It’s easy to assume that every last one of you reading this either a) found my work through The Mom Hour podcast and therefore knows
as well as you know me; or b) is at least passingly familiar with the fact that my primary creative work - and employment - for the last decade has been a parenting podcast. But we know what happens when we assume, right?
So for those of you in group c) what are you even talking about, Sarah?, let’s catch you up: Meagan and I have co-hosted The Mom Hour for more than ten years. We first connected on the Internets of olden times in 2011 when, as a reader and fan of her blog and book, I enrolled in an online writing class she was teaching. In 2012 I took a position working for Meagan as an editor, contributor, and project manager, and in 2015 we started a podcast - and subsequently a podcast network and consulting business - together.
Cue the friendship montage: in the span of these fourteen years we have gone from Internet strangers to long-distance business besties. We’ve shared hotel rooms, creative work, club sandwiches, Google Docs, toothpaste, professional honors, plans to take over the world, milestone birthday celebrations, business bank accounts, hair-growing-out journeys, and the occasional unpopular opinion.
Now that everyone’s caught up, let’s move on. Meagan’s new book - The Last Parenting Book You’ll Ever Read: How We Let Our Kids Go and Embrace What’s Next - comes out Tuesday, May 6! She’s going to be on Substack all day, having live conversations with a one interesting person after another, and I grabbed the very first morning spot! (See the whole lineup here - it’s going to be great!)
Join Meagan Francis and me - Sarah Powers - for a short conversation and a lot of caffeine on Tuesday, May 6 at 8:30am Eastern Time.
Yep, that’s 5:30am where I live. If you made it this far and weren’t already convinved of my love and admiration for this lady, the case should be closed now.
I’m new to Substack Live, but it works similar to other live-streaming video conversations you may have watched on your social network of choice. If you’re subscribed to my newsletter already, you’ll get notified that I’m planning to go live on Tuesday at 5:30am Pacific / 8:30am Eastern. You can follow instructions from there to watch the video, or just head to sarahjanepowers.substack.com at that dawn-cracking hour and there we’ll be!
I’ll also save the recorded video of our conversation and share it in an upcoming post.
[Edited to add: you can now watch our recorded chat in the video player at the top of this post!]

If you’re not already subscribed to Meagan’s Substack, that’s a great way to follow along with her book launch events, both online and in person. I can’t promise that becoming a fan of her work will lead to a decade of professional fulfillment and a lifetime of friendship, but hey, it happened for me?
These pictures are amazing!
Okay, that 5:30 am livestream was very fun! Can we please wake up every day with Meagan and Sarah in The Morning?
